The Women of Color Thriving Therapy Group
The Women of Color Thriving therapy group is a 6-month virtual therapy group dedicated to women of color in leadership roles who are seeking therapy support in the company of women in similar stages of life.
It is often a hard, lonely road for women of color in leadership roles who work diligently to challenge the professional paradigm, engage in social justice issues, and care for their loved ones. It is evident that women of color leaders often have little to no opportunity to tend to their own needs, which can often result in:
anxiety disorders
depression and other mood disorders
compassion fatigue
burnout
Women of color also face their own challenges around race and gender, including
misogyny or misogynoir
racism
discrimination
which can lead to racialized trauma, racial battle fatigue, and anxiety disorders that stem from racism.
This processing group will incorporate treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Psychodynamic Theory to help participants begin their healing from personal hurts and traumas and external challenges related to their professional identities.
